Intro to Wet Felting Workshop
Saturday, January 9 9:30 to 12:30 in Escondido, California
$85 includes enough wool roving to create an
~18x18 square
Using colorful wool fibers, a modernized ancient technique,
some creative designing and a lot of elbow grease, you will create a
beautiful and feels-so-soft felt square in few hours. It may not be large
enough to build a yurt; but it will make a lovely wall hanging or become part
of another fiber piece. During the felting process there will be lots of time
to visit and laugh with other participants and you won’t
need to go to the gym to work out that day! All materials are provided for
you including a selection of wool
rovings and the equipment needed to create your own original 18x18” piece of
hand-made felt. Wear clothes and shoes that may get wet. Email me to sign up.

July 22, Thursday
International Quilt Festival, Long Beach, California
I’m
teaching two workshops

Quiltlets: Very small quilts
for short attention spans
July 22: 9am-noon
Create a tiny, hand painted quilt of your own
design using simple materials. Jane will gently guide you to draw your own
design or trace a copyright free image onto
cloth, then paint and hand stitch, using some fun basic embroidery stitches.
Your creation could be used on it’s own as embellishment for a jacket or tote,
or create more for a larger piece. As seen in Jane’s article in Oct/Nov 09 Quilting Arts magazine on
Quiltlets.
Floral Rubber Stamps: Design
& Carve your own
July 22: 2-5pm
A rubber stamp of your own design is a wonderful addition
to an artist’s personal ‘tool
box.’ Create a simple, graphic design to be used again and again on paper, cloth or any surface. Jane will guide
you to select an flower image from a copyright free source, change it,
simplify it and then, once it’s
your own unique creation, carve
the design into a small printmaking block. You’ll use this skill again and
again!
