Jane’s
artistic style is graphic, fresh, in-the-moment, always with an
unexpected element of surprise. Her love of detail, mixed with sly
humor, produces realistic subjects from a slightly different point of
view. Her world travels and the common threads of traditional folk art,
mosaics, architectural texture, design, color, with elements of nature
influence all her work. Jane works in all medias, primarily paper and
cloth.
Jane LaFazio spent many years in the Graphic
Design and Marketing field and has degrees in Graphic Design and Asian
Studies. She is a native Californian, having lived in both northern and
southern California. In between, she experienced the foreign ports of
Seoul, South Korea and Corvallis, Oregon. In 1993, she began painting
fine art pieces, and in 1998, dared to pursue her art full time. She
believes she’s currently living the artist’s life she was meant to live
and is passionate about creating art pieces that speak to other people.
She loves learning and is continually attending workshops in fiber art,
quilting, painting, assemblage and anything that piques her interest or
further enhances her artwork.
She has participated in many San Diego art
exhibits and juried shows, including San Diego Art Institute, San Diego
Watercolor Society, San Diego Museum of Art, ArtWalk (as a featured
artist and refrigerator artist) and the Super Bowl 2003. Jane was
commissioned to do 8 paintings for the permanent collection of Scripps
Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
Jane’s art quilts have been featured in
“Material Visions: A Gallery of Miniature Art Quilts,” “Fabric Art
Gallery” and “Beginner’s Guide to Art Quilts.” (See
Books for more details) She teaches art quilts in San Diego County.

Life Motto:
“What I do today is important because I am
paying a day of my life for it. What I accomplish must be worthwhile
because the price is high.”
Jane lives and works in San Diego with her
beloved husband of 29 years and two cats. |
