As an artist, I'm beginning to realize that I'm inspired by travel.
This started innocently enough, a few
years ago, when I visited Seattle, Washington, in the Fall. I was mesmerized by
the shades and shapes of autumn leaves and the beautiful berries. In the
Greenlake area, there was a whole row of trees laden with beautiful red berries
and not a single leaf.
When I got home to San Diego, I
painted a series of berries featuring pyrcantha, firethorn and what I called
"Greenlake Berries." And the autumn leaves theme continues in my work.
Then of course, there was Tuscany
and San Miguel de Allende and Loreto in Mexico
and Colorado , and my Asian
work is based on living and traveling in Asia.
I've always loved to travel, but now
I'm particularly stimulated by the colors, patterns, smells, and tastes of a new
adventure. I love communicating my feelings, impressions and memories of a
recent journey through my art.
